Botox doesn’t melt, evaporate, or care how hot it is outside. But there’s one summer habit worth watching.
You finally got your Botox done, you’re feeling great about it, and then someone tells you the heat is going to ruin everything. Now you’re stressed every time you step outside.
Take a breath. That fear isn’t based on how Botox actually works.
Botox doesn’t melt. It doesn’t evaporate. It doesn’t care how hot it is outside. Once Botox has settled into the muscle, which is exactly where it’s supposed to be, the Texas summer isn’t touching it. So where did this rumor come from? For some people, summer is a more active season. You’re working out more, you’re moving more, you’re living life. And some people, based on their own metabolism, may start noticing movement return a little sooner than usual. But that’s a body thing, not a weather thing. Plenty of our patients get the exact same longevity in July as they do in January.
“The goal was never to look different. The goal is to look like yourself, rested, refreshed, and like you actually slept well.”
The real factor is squinting. There’s one summer factor worth knowing about, and it has nothing to do with heat. More sunlight means more squinting, and more squinting means those crow’s feet and forehead lines can look more noticeable. Not because your Botox stopped working, but because your muscles are literally getting more of a workout every time you’re outside without sun protection.
Honest tip: a great pair of sunglasses might be one of the best investments you can make alongside your Botox.
Summer is actually perfect for Botox. You’re going to be photographed more in the next three months than almost any other time of year. Vacations, reunions, birthdays, weddings. You’re making memories. And the goal was never to look different. The goal is to look like yourself, rested, refreshed, and like you actually slept well. That’s what Botox does best, and summer is when you’ll appreciate it the most.
