From bunny lines to chin dimpling to the lip flip, these are the small spots that make the biggest difference in how balanced your face looks.
When most people think about Botox, they picture the forehead and maybe the frown lines between the brows. And yes, those are classic treatment areas for good reason. But they represent only a small fraction of what Botox can actually do.
Some of the most transformative results we see come from the smaller, more expressive areas of the face, the spots that move when you laugh, concentrate, or just go about your day. Treating these areas does not dramatically change your appearance. It refines it. The goal is always the same: help you look like you, just a little smoother, softer, and more balanced.
Here are the five areas that consistently surprise people.
1. Bunny lines. Bunny lines are the small crinkles that appear on the sides of your nose when you smile or laugh. Some people love them. Others feel like they pull too much attention toward the center of the face and make the nose look more prominent than they’d like. A small amount of Botox can soften that scrunching reflex, so your smile looks relaxed and natural rather than wrinkled up through the middle of your face.
2. Smile lines around the outer cheeks. This is different from the deeper lines that filler typically addresses. We are talking about the fine creases that fan out when you smile widely, around the outer cheeks and the sides of the mouth. A small dose of Botox in that area softens the muscle pull so the smile still looks completely natural, just more controlled and less scrunched at the edges.
3. Chin dimpling. This one surprises people more than almost anything else. Chin dimpling is the orange-peel texture that appears on the chin when you talk, concentrate, or tense your lower face. It happens because the mentalis muscle contracts, creating that uneven, bumpy surface. A small amount of Botox in that muscle smooths the chin completely, which makes the entire lower face look more polished and balanced. The change is subtle, but the effect on the overall appearance of the lower face is significant.
“The goal is always the same: help you look like you, just a little smoother, softer, and more balanced.”
4. The lip flip. The lip flip is exactly what it sounds like: a small amount of Botox placed just above the upper lip causes it to curl softly outward when you smile, so the lip doesn’t disappear or fold inward. It’s not filler. It does not add volume. It just adjusts the way the lip moves, giving it a softer, slightly more defined look without any commitment to a bigger change. For people who want a little more presence in the upper lip without going the filler route, the lip flip is a great starting point.
5. The Depressor Anguli Oris (DAO) muscles. The muscles that pull the corners of the mouth downward. When these muscles are strong or overactive, they can give the face a resting expression that looks tired, sad, or stern, even when you feel completely fine. Softening these muscles with a small amount of Botox allows the corners of the mouth to sit more neutrally, creating a more relaxed and open overall expression without pulling the face in any unnatural direction.
What all five of these areas have in common is that they are about balance in expression. Botox at this level isn’t about freezing anything or making a dramatic change. It’s about identifying the specific muscles that are pulling too hard in one direction and giving them just enough relaxation to let the rest of your face come through more clearly.
We have talked about this philosophy in depth across our previous videos, covering natural results, micro-dosing, consistency, and how timing affects your outcome. If you want to go deeper on any of those topics, see them here.
If you’re curious about which of these areas might make the biggest difference for you, we would love to have that conversation. Every face is different, and the best results always start with understanding what your expressions are actually doing and what can be done safely and naturally to refine them.
